Library outreach

Stotfold Good Neighbour Group is working with Central Bedfordshire Libraries bringing books and other materials to housebound customers. This is not simply a delivery service but develops into an extension of our befriending service where the volunteer builds a rapport with the client, and spends time in conversation about their book choices and activities.

Library staff complete a profile form with the client over the phone to determine customers’ reading preferences. For example; not only the type and story lines of the reading material, but also such things as large print or spoken word books where eye sight is poor. Books are delivered every 2-4 weeks.
